Re: Best Spot in the Abacos - S&W Protection

Cooper's Town is fine to anchor with a west component. Beyond that going ashore there is limited to the public dock. There is a "new" port there that was built in the past few years, just north of Cooper's Town. I read that one can check in there, but beyond that I have no knowledge.

Yes, they want to call it Port Cooperstown I think but everyone and the maps call it China Port. We have checked in there which worked great, but it’s nothing like a marina, i.e. it’s docks will hurt your boat and are hard to climb etc.

Thanks to you both. We will head down to Powell Cay tomorrow. I was hoping to grab a few provisions in Coopers Town from the dinghy. If we do; I'll reply.

We have been waiting for thunderstorms to roll through. There has still been a winter weather pattern in the Abacos this March.

Re: Best Spot in the Abacos - S&W Protection

I tried to dinghy over to Coopers Town yesterday around noon. They have what looks like a public dock, but you have to secure a small vessel to the pilings and then climb a ladder to reach the dock.

The rest of the frontage is a seawall, chop was building, so I didn't feel comfortable landing anywhere and turned around.

I did see the Chinese port. Seems kind of out of place. Ripe for a conspiracy theory.
