Best Place for a New Paint Job

Refitting a 39 privilege this last year and things are going slow with a full time job and life. I spent the summer hand grinding the bottom due to osmotic blistering and finally got it afloat with the help of 15 gals of epoxy. With plenty more work on the table I wanted to find an area South of Miami and the Keys. Maybe Honduras, trini, south america that can paint a cat. I haven't had much luck with information on this. Its Extremely expensive state side and I just done have the time. Any help on someones experience spraying 2 part urethane????

Thanks

I am currently over in Grand Bahama (Lucaya) doing a refit on my 44 Cheoy Lee and have found several locals who do spray work. The prices are substantially lower than the states. Best quote to repaint my hull going from white to dark blue all prep, the paint (awlgrip), and haul and launch included is $4,400. The last boat we owned was a 59' express power boat and I had the hull repainted in Ft Lauderdale and it was $1,000 a foot. There is alot of unemployment over here right now and alot of skilled tradesmen looking for work, if you stay out of the big yards ($90/hr) here and spend some time talking to the locals you can get almost any kind of work done and just pay the guys by the hour ($10-$20/hr) and save a ton of money.

Rourkeh thanks for the reply

Thats exactly what I am looking for. I did something similar in the Keys hiring out individuals Ft Lauderdale and Miami are way to high. It sounds like you got a heck of price. Shoot me a contact that you are good with. Painters are not all equal. Lucaya is close, How did the dark blue come out. Thats all in the prep !!

Thanks again

We'll paint our 45' Downeast. The guy is charging us $2700. Bottom, sides and transom. Does that seem reasonable?

You can also go down island and find good work in St Martin (French side) and Trinidad and especially at Medegal Village boatyard in Venezuela.
- - But sometimes at all the places the skilled workers are there but the supplies are not. So it might be wise to bring the supplies with you.
