Bahamas 'Must-Sees' ?
We're heading through the Bahamas April and early May on our way down the "thorny path". Any advice on the must sees and do's would be greatly appreciated.

The Exumas chain. Spend a lot of time there harbor hopping, do plenty of snorkeling, Exuma Land & Sea Park. Where do you plan to get to before hurricane season?

Culebra is the goal, weather permitting. If not Luperon.

We liked Eleuthera and the Land and Sea Park in the Exumas is well worth any time you spend there. There are so many wonderful spots.

Re: Bahamas 'Must-Sees' ?
McDuff's bar on Norman's Cay in the Exumas has the best cheeseburger in the Bahamas. Staniel Cay Yacht Club is the most festive marina/bar by a longshot. Also not to be missed are Manjack and Green Turtle Cay (Abacos), Governor's Harbor (Eleuthera), and Chat and Chill (George Town, Great Exuma). For me, the Bahamas was about beautiful water and fabulous sailing. The relaxation and partying between the sails was icing on the cake. Have fun. Also, take plenty of beer because it is EXPENSIVE down there.

The Bahamian tourist agency claims "it's better in the Bahamas".
I say: "it's more expensive in the Bahamas" lol
My usual cruising grounds are the Winwards, when sailing thru the Bahamas I was shocked by the 10$ bag of tostitos (Highbourne), the 250$ 2- thank dive (Staniel), etc.
Also, bring plenty of diesel as supply is not always available.

DITTO the above:
And yes... the Bahamas are expensive. They have no income or property taxes on citizens, and their government is supported totally by import taxes. Just hope you don't need to order parts from the States! This has happened to us more than once, and cost more than double in the long run. EVEN with writing: "for yacht in transit" on the package. The Bahamas is still one of my favorite places to cruise to. Just take a lot of supplies.
BTW Culebra is a nice place too!
