Tobago used to be Dutch once but I'm sure it's still T&T and will be for a long time ;-)

cheers,
Nick.

- - The islands are not the places they used to be. Population pressures both on land and now with so many new cruisers taking to boats and visiting the islands has resulted in a similar increase in both petty and murderous crimes. All of the islands now share this increase in crime. It is now only a matter of which islands are really bad, which have "average" amounts of crime and which have low crime.
- - Even in Grenada where I have been visiting now for 5 years, I have noticed a marked increase in crime from petty theft, on up to attempted murder against cruisers. Pick any island in the Caribbean and you will find the exact same range of crime. Even the deserted islands are seeing invasions of crime from thieves and in some cases murderous pirates.
- - However, even with all the islands having lost their "virginity" there is still so much good and wonderful experiences to be had and enjoyed. Staying home to avoid any crime doesn't work either. So just arm yourself with knowledge, research and communications with other cruisers and you can avoid most all of the "bad" places and experiences. Not all, just most all. One consideration is that all this cycles between locations. Some times/months/ seasons a formerly bad place will cycle into a good place and vice-versa. Now-a-days timing is everything. Along with good karma and a good attitude you can experience all the islands have to offer with minimal bad experiences.
