Antigua Race Week - Any Fun ?

I notice John from Swagmant says, in another thread, he's going to Antigua for Race Week at the end of April.

I am sorta tossing up us taking a look at it in the cruising, no extras division. Just for fun and as a test sail.

Whats it like?

The rules state 3 crew are needed and Nicolle and I can only count to 2. Can willing 'nice' people be found in Antigua looking for a berth?

Mark

Hi Mark,
Yes. We've even got pals Paul and Annette who will be there on a their cat and probably seeking a race week ride if you get caught short. If you want to contact them I'll pass on email details.
And we're parking up in English Harbour for Race Weeek so if you see us there come on board for a beer.
JOHN

Great, thanks. We will do.
We are hoping to have the registration for the boat through by then and I thought it would be a nice way to start our little adventure.

Perhaps we can use the old method of Press Ganging a crew... head to the local bar at closing and pick up any drunk thats fallen asleep

I think US Air flys to Antigua. Polly and I can be on the red eye!

If it is at all like the St Martin Heiniken Ragatta you'll have a ball.

Congrats on the new boat.

Look for a 65ft. catamaran called Profilgate, or something like that. The owner is Richard, and owns Latitude 38 magazine too. He likes to meet new people, and just might do a story with you in it. Have fun........................

antigua race week

this is the ultimate immersion into the center of the worldwide sailing community, everyone who is interested in sailing at any level should put this on their must do, thing to do before you die list and at the top. I have done and been everywhere and this rated 5 stars, you don't need any experience and can participate on many levels, from joining a crew to chartering a bareboat with friends and grabbing an experienced captain. Being out in a friendly race with the worlds elite, and their magnificent yachts and their crews is surreal, everyone friendly and accomodating and patient with inexperienced newby's. Fun doesn't even begin to describe this experience. Pam
