Annapolis Charter next week:)

Hey Y'all

The Admiral and I are chartering a Jeanneau 379 next week. I have perused the inteneraries online and just wanted to hear from everyone here. What are your favorite towns, marinas, resturants, and anchorages? We are doing a five day staring in Annapolis.

Must see: St Michael's and Solomons Island. Nice spots: Rock Hall/Swan Creek, Mill Creek, Whitehall Bay, Galesville. Avoid Kent Narrows.

Other than the above mentioned stops, be sure to engage in some good gunkholing, poking up into little sleepy creeks. The Chesapeake has a fractal coastline with thousands of little coves and inlets. To get a bit more away from it all, take a trip up Broad Creek (the other side of the St. Michaels peninsula).

Also, keep an eye on the weather for afternoon thunderstorms. A bit early for them but they can come up quite quickly.

Personally, I'd skip Solomon's and head to eastern shore. St. Michaels is a great place to visit. I like Wye River, but there are lots of other spots too. I'm not a seasoned Chesapeake cruiser - disclaimer.

Looking for backwater or restaurants/shopping? Don't know if you spend much time in Annapolis, but it's worth picking up a mooring there too. Try Chick and Ruths deli for breakfast. I had a blast up there last summer...

Tangier Island is a personal fav of mine.
Port Urbanna has a great anchorage and a neat little town to explore. It is a bit up the Rappahanock but good sailing all the way.
And then there are the hundreds of gunkholes along the way like Little Bay on the north side of Windmill Point.

Honestly, when I start cruising full time, I hope to spend at least 2 years right here in the Chesapeake!

Possibly base the order of visit on the weather - better weather for galesville & sheepshead.
