Anegada - what should we not miss?

Planning to be there in mid march and spend two days. Looking at the island I'll probably rent a car. There will be seven of us. Several of us are scuba certified and we'll have kids 8 and 10 with us.

Already planning to eat at some tasty places and explore beaches. What else should we look at?

thanks!

Sailed to Anegada many years ago, just because it was off the beaten path for the BVI. Island itself aint much to look at...flat and desolate more like Bahamas islands than others in BVI...salt pans, flamingos, good flats fishing, lots of surrouding reef for snorkel/SCUBA...

Loblolly Bay has some great snorkeling for sure, beautiful beach. Other spot to relax is Cow Wreck bay. Nice mellow vibe, haven't been since the hurricane so not sure what it is like now. Didn't dive but the snorkeling (if you can find a way out of the inner reef was pretty sweet.

Also we have dinner at the wonky dog which was awesome! rented a truck with benches in the back and were able to fit 9 people. I think the guy's name was Dean.

Good time! Would probably spend 2 days next time as it was a little hectic with just the one day. The anchorage itself is nothing special (IMHO) so it is important to visit some of the other beaches

Pretty much everything is fully operating. Best snorkelling is usually Flash of Beauty (few go) but the coral took a big hit and won't recover for awhile.

We sailed to Anegada before Irma hit. We rented scooters from the scooter lady and spent 2 days exploring the island.

We really enjoyed Cow wreck beach and the Anegada beach club

Enjoy your trip!!!

Been there many times. Sailed in and otherwise. Three places to go on the north side of the island. Cow Wreck beach, Anegada Beach Club (best food on the island with a breathtaking beach and reef), and Loblolly beach. We will be there again, first week in March.

Re: Anegada - what should we not miss?

Haven't been there in many a year, so for most activities I've no reliable input. However, there are lots of shipwrecks in those shallows, so keep your eyes open while snorkling. I've found that to really see discrete objects on the seabed you've got to be focused on the particular thing that you're interested in. If you're after spiny lobster, think "bugs" and be looking under ledges. If you're after hogfish, think hoggies and forget about groupers and mutton snapper. If the idea of finding the site of a long wrecked wooden sailing vessel interests you, think "man-made" shapes and straight lines. That hurricane in '17 probably scoured a lot of bottom: it's an intereting pasttime that diving in those waters allows.
