Anchorage in Lafitte ,La. area?

I have a 40 ft. sailboat with a 6 ft draft and will be traveling east next month down the ICW. I understand there is alot of barge traffic past the Lafitte island anchorage and wondering if anyone has knowledge of a better anchorages? If no anchorages any marinas you would recommend? Thanks
