Advice for Sailing from St. Kitts to Martinique in December

Any advice for sailing a small schooner from Basseterre to St. Pierre, Martinique this time of year?

Enjoy a great sail. The anchorage at St. Pierre is a shelve that extends out about 1/4 mile and then drops to 70 feet very quickly. Customs/Immigration is hardly ever open, and nobody seems to care if you never check-in.

Pass close to Guadeloupe and Dominica if you need to actually sail.

Just look at the wind patterns on NOAA Wind/Wave charts at: Radiofax Charts - New Orleans or call up St Kitts/Nevis, Antigua, Guadeloupe GFS forecasts at:
WindGURU: Saint Kitts and Nevis - North Frigate Bay
WindGURU: Antigua and Barbuda - Antigua
WindGURU: Guadeloupe - Illet Caret

- - Your course line is pretty much dead into the prevailing trade winds. Occasionally there are some north winds but they would be rare this time of year.
- - For pure sailing you would have to choose between NE to Antigua then south to St. Pierre or south from St Kitts until you can turn NE to Guadeloupe. Both would probably involve double the time of just close-hauled motor sailing there via direct to Montserrat then St Pierre.
