Abaco Itinerary

Hey all,

Heading to Abaco for a Feb. cruise and am looking for some good intel on itineraries. My wife and I have been to the Abacos on several occasions I cruised there aboard a motor yacht in the 90s and we were married at the Hopetown Harbour Lodge 5 years ago. We are lookin for a few nice quiet anchorages to while away the time. Not sure if we want to head north first towards Treasure then work our way back down to Little Harbour or hit there first and work our way up the chain.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks Clipper

If you're looking for quiet anchorages the further north you go the quieter it'll be. Of course it depends on a couple of factors, the weather if you're going out Whale Cay or if you have a cat you don't have to go around Whale Cay cut. Once north of Manjack it gets a lot quieter.

Anchorages I find tend to be quiet and often have had to myself:

Double Breasted.
Strangers.
Joes
Jacks
Yankee Harbour
Maybe Big Carter's
Paw Paw (in settled weather only)
Lower Fish Cays
Moraine
Umbrella
Hog Cays
Powell
Bay at north end of Manjack, though it now has a cottage in it.
No Name
Spoil Cay
Snake Cay
Bucaron Bay
Pelican Cays (day stop, maybe overnight in settled weather)
Bight of Old Robinson

I second what Vasco said about north being quieter.

Photos of most of the above and a few anchorage maps on my webpage: www.bahamasmariner.com (still in progress, pardon the mess)
