Abaco Help - Winding Bay

Winding Bay is just below Little Harbor at the Sea of Abaco. The charts on my computer do not zoom to this Bay. I have access to a place to stay temporarily in the area and am trying to see if can anchor my 4' 3" draft cat just off shore in this Bay.

Anyone have any local knowledge of this area?

Shawnbush - I don't have local knowledge, but since nobody who does has answered, I'll share this:

When I look at the Explorer Charts, the depth is unclear, but I'm left with the impression it's not a good anchorage. The charts give no information relevant to cruisers, even if its deep enough for you to get back in a ways, it appears very exposed to the prevailing winds. Little Bay, behind Cherokee Point may offer a deeper, more protected anchorage for you.

I'd have to agree with nautical62 that Cherokee would provide better protection but Little harbor being better. I've traveled along the coast a few years back anchoring at Hole in the wall for a few hrs. rest. It can get quit Rollie in anything more than no wind.

My chart shows 4-5' in front of the buildings along the northern end!

There is some 4-5 ft MLW just inside the point at the Little harbor enterance but if there is a swell over the bar or a northerly component to the wind it is really lumpy. Little harbor is right there and a great anchorage. Not to mention home to the finest beach bar in the Abacos if not the world.
