Re: Wintering south cyclades
Try Leros as I recall it was very affordable and decent facilities.

Re: Wintering south cyclades
I really don't think there are areas for mooring or hauling in the South Cyclades. Though, IMO, it really doesn't matter because you can be about anywhere in 24 constant hours. I'd direct your attention to Crete, Rhodes, or over to Porto Heli. Aegina has a few areas as well as Poros. Maybe Naousa's private marina.
Try using Google Earth or Greek Waters Pilot - then you'll know for sure. The new marina in Rhodes would be pretty attractive to me given it's airport size.

Do you know if the Rhodes Marina is operating? I know a few years ago the project stopped. I just checked their website and whilst I think it's updated since I last looked, no links work for prices, bookings etc.. Which makes me suspect that it's not operating and perhaps won't be too soon.
On link did work, for the web cam at the marina

Hoppy,
It is open. The guys over on the YBW Liveaboard forum have a pretty good write up on it. I'm going to stay in Mandraki in about 10 days just because of the history, but if I was going to post up in Rhodes, the new marina would be the spot for sure.
Have a good summer,
David.

Nice to know. I guess the website problems are related to most of Greek companies still doing business in the 20th century style

YBW forum advises that web calculated prices arent "real". Phone ahead or just turn up for real-world prices. Thast what I'll be doing in 3 weeks time
A look at the empty marina in the webcam suggest that berth prices should be negotiable

Must have been an IT problem as it now works for me,
I noticed that when you enter a start and end date with only a 1 night stay, the website quotes for 2 days. So maybe your correct price is €102
Did you see the annual price? €25k for a 12m cat €8k for my 12m mono.
Might be best to call for the price

Re: Wintering south cyclades
Why Greece -- there are deals to be had in Turkey with great craftsmen and good security and easy to reach the Greeks islands in the spring -- Look at Kusadasi - we lived aboard there all winter - did a bit of a major refit in the spring and could have gone west but chose to go north this year.

Re: Wintering south cyclades
I was in Rhodes 10 days ago and the I was told that the marrina was open. I went to see, it seemed to me half open. Pantoons, water, electricity suplies were installed. Parking lot, some of the offices and facilities were not completed yet and I haven't seen anybody working.
I've also heard that the prices are awfully high and there weren't any boat at all. I was told that they would (or they would have to) reduce prices, but when and by how much, no idea.
The dowsides are; couldn't see any dry docking area, the technical services could be problematic and it's a bit distant to the city center. (short taxi ride or a rather long walk..) The only thing I like about Mandrake is that you are in the middle of the old city the moment you are out of yr boat..
Cheers
Yeloya
