With a catamaran 39-46f?

In a marina for a couple of mounths. Safe and not so expensive to live?

One pretty good place is ALMERIMAR. It's West of Almeria; closest town is El Ejido. Prices vary a bit but generally about the lowest in the western Med. I kep a boat or two there for about 12 years , and have watched it grow up a bit; provisioning is excellent; locals are OK and the marina is quite nice. There are also cats there...

Airports serving europe are relatively close by, and security is quite good.

Kemer Marina in Turkey.
Good rates in the water or on the hard.
Good live abourd program for winter.

Almerimar is popular as its one of the best balanced and best value marinas on the Spanish mid coast. Kemer is not the cheapest in Turkey but we too kept our yacht there for one season and we'd also vote for them.

If you want cheap storage for a cat you could consider on the beach in Southern Portugual!

Just off Faro / Olhao is the low sand island of Culatra - you can go look at it via Google Earth. 'Faro' gets you the shots of the region quickly.

On the norther side of the island you see south of Olhao, you can zoom in to the main sheltered lagoon and see many of the cats people have left there in past winter (and summer) months.

Invariably there will be some livaboards who can keep an eye on your yacht whilst you are away - or failing that you can find a local fisherman (the only people living on the island in winter months) to do that for you. Theres not much happening on Culatra in the winter - so this guarding role is one they take seriously.

Faro airport only a short ferry / cab ride away with probably cheapo flights up to Scandiwegia.

It is a lovely place to stop on a boat - lots of wildlife and absolute tranquility - but super well protected during winter storms.

Oh - and it costs nothing but what you pay to have the boat looked after.

In turkey there are 340 marinas... try Marmaris, Kemer, or Seture in Antalya. beautiful sailing area, good food, friendly people. In Finnike you get a special reduction if you stay over 3 months.

I've also seen reference somewhere here to Faro. There's a fishing island nearby where many cats anchor over the winter. Local fishermen keep in touch with the boat and you and it's a couple of mile from Faro Airport. See Gobal Earth. Lots of other sandy areas to hole up. Locals generally pretty good. And the Oporto is good too, and the grilled sardines for breakfast, stay with you all day.

there is a new Marina in AYOS NICOLAOS in CRETE. not expensive, daily flights all the year round. beautiful loction.

We are wintering our cat in Valencia this year (link below). It is cheaper than any of the other marinas in the area.

If you want cheap winter rates, look at Marmaris Yacht Marina. Kemer, Turkey quoted us 3 time the price we payed in Marmaris.
