Re: West Scotland & Outer Hebrides
Listen guys, I've never seen a Haggis running free (God bless em) but my Dad told me it was the front legs shorter than the back, and not side to side.
He said for some reason that this was why they invariably got into problems if they strayed over two borders into Wales.
Maybe someone else knows why?

Don't try the Corryvreckan against the tide unless you like seeing grinning deer but it is well worth doing in reasonable weather. Try the hotel on Colonsay for the pub quizzes on Thursday evenings. You can't miss it. It's called "The Hotel." Don't sail too close too Lismore island on low magnification Gps as I did last summer. There is a nasty breaking rock which we just avoided. Try Port Ellen on Islay and perhaps pop across and see us in Ireland only 30+ miles distant. Enjoy.

I say don't try Corryvreckan unless you are local or else very adventurous!
BTW From Port Ellen one can sail on to Rathlin before visitin mainland Eire. Nice place, good walks, etc..
Cheers,
b.

I have signed up for the classic malt cruise this year, but it is going North, around Skye, so sadly will not be calling in at Jura during this rally, but I will be stopping if in the tiny harbour on Scarba, like I did last year and hopefully this time I will be able to watch the corry in all it's glory.
Two Hanse yachts signed up. :-)

Re: West Scotland & Outer Hebrides
I will sign up as soon as I am 100% sure that the house runs ok. First week of May the boat is leaving the water for a paint job and the installation of some electronics. This will take a week or so and after that I set sail to England.
Only point is that I will be alone as I cannot find someone to join me.

Re: West Scotland & Outer Hebrides
My boat will be sprayed the 23rd, some electrical units will be installed and finally the masts put up. I will be ready 1st week of May for the sea-trials. I have been busy now about 6 months so it is time to get a halt to it.
If the boat is ultimately ok, I will book.

Re: West Scotland & Outer Hebrides
Thanks, the wee dram I can definitely use. It will be a challenge and something like an Apollo 13, being handicapped and on my own, - not that it would stop me.
The solitude suits me and living for long intervals at the boat, I discovered thatNeala is extremely comfortable in spite of her limited length. At least to the soloist.

this could work out well for you. Drink liberally, tie on to the transom of the biggest yacht you can find and ride to the next stop.
