un-charted reef : east turkey : navionics

Hope I can assist the next cruiser to avoid this one - I came off with no major hassles (until I haulout and check properly)
30.16.756 N 30.29.308 E I must have just clipped it , my draft is 1 meter.
when I return my wifes ipad to her - we will report as per normal

Unless I am missing something, it's no wonder you ran aground, the coordinates you gave are somewhere between Alexandria and Cairo in Egypt, about 60 odd nm inland

I believe that the coordinates should read 36.16.756 N, etc. This will put it right off the coast of Olympos, south of Kemer. It does get a bit shallow close to shore.

You can report this on your iPad directly to Navionics. Just go to menu, scroll down and click on Submit Feed back. This will send an email to Navioncs. You can also add the Rocks through the Edit map feature. Whe you tap on the screen the Cross hairs with the blue ? mark come up. Click on the question mark, then click on the Edit Map. You can add Rocks to the chart. Make sure your community edits is turned on in Settings.

The waypoint 36.16.755 N 30.29.305 does indicate a charted reef on our CM93 charts using both Maxsea and OpenCPN. That waypoint is about 100-ft or so of that reef.

If you have the Navionics APP you can also add the reef through Community Edits. By clicking on the cross-hairs you will then see Edit Map. this will allow you to add features to the Charts with the Community Edits. turn Community Edits on through your settings area.
