Re: Tunisia goes ISIS.
i think you will find there has never not been fundamentalists in the maghreb over the last 10 years posing a threat, they just have a new flag to rally under.
fortunately it is only a short drone flight from southern europe...........

Re: Tunisia goes ISIS.
Guess I'm glad we decided to go to Malta instead of Tunisia for haul-out next season. This news reaffirms, IMHO, that not all of Tunisia is 'safe' for us western infidels for travel.

Re: Tunisia goes ISIS.
We'll have been in Port Yasmine Hammett 4 times this yr from the 8th August onwards was only in there two weeks ago on the 15th sept it is very safe in there and I would not put any one of from going there and wintering there but would say not too go into the interior of the country the security and surrounding area with in 40 miles of Marina is good you get more hassle leaving the country as the Costa guardia and Costa di financia will stop you to check if you have any aliens on board

Re: Tunisia goes ISIS.
Ps for those who want to winter in this region of the med my own recommendations would be 1/Ragusa sicly 2/Gozo malta 3/Port Yasmine Tunisia 4/ for all those on a $500 monthly budget river treve in fummicino where you can raft up some where plus here your hull will stay clean in the fresh water plus it does flow past at about 3 to 4 knots at times but it will be cold without heating on board

it is a worrying trend for world travellers, who might be seen as soft targets, where next?turkey, croatia, morroco, egypt, malaysia, thailan d,bali?
acts like this will seriously effect tourism and their economies with a further destabalising effect.

ISIS are the bad guys who decapitated the French climber yesterday?
I wonder when they finally discover marinas are full of heads.

Re: Tunisia goes ISIS.
Nothing new here. The bad guys have been trying to infiltrate the area for a while and the Tunisian military deal with them and generally they do not arrest them.
The problem is the vacuum left by the usa government when they took out the Libyan dictator without a plan to replace him.
We will winter over in Yasmine again this winter and the tourist industry in Tunisia is growing again.
On the other hand maybe Oklahoma is not a safe place to be. Just read about a problem there.

Re: Tunisia goes ISIS.
So you think the US was responsible for Moammar Qaddafi's death?
I do not follow news anymore, but I doubt it for exactly the reason you describe, that is unless the powers that be are a whole lot stupider then they used to be.

Re: Tunisia goes ISIS.
The Feds broke up a fairly large local terrorist cell here in NC early this year or late last year before they were able to start killing people. If they had not been stopped it seems like these guys were going to do some real harm. A few years ago, a student at UNC ran over other students on campus while shouting to Allah, but that was not ruled terrorism.
Even back in the 90's, there were cigarette smuggling operations being used to fun terror groups in the Mid East.
Seem like I am missing another NC incident...
The problem just ain't in other parts of the world...
Later,
Dan

Re: Tunisia goes ISIS.
Without sources the "feds just broke up a ..." really means nothing. The "Feds" have a vested interest in keeping the population in fear. I remember when it was the Ruskies that were the boogie men with neighbors spying on neighbors. Propaganda is a powerful tool when many in the population don't even realize what it is.

Re: Tunisia goes ISIS.
Sorry here, but it always amazes me how many people in bars and on forums seem to know so much about things that the governments seem intent on keeping quiet about. I am not saying that anybody is wrong, but all these well kept secrets that seem to not be so give me a bad case of "yeah Rightitis'.
Coops.
