We have these in Florida constantly. A tornado would throw the docks and catamarans through the air. Tornadoes throw cars around on land and level buildings.

Probably an English translation issue.

Good article, thanks for posting.

But...this same article discusses non-tornadic vs tornadic water spouts...the later is less common, but formed in the same way as more common over land tornados. It is essentially a wet tornado.

I also believe the area the videos are being filmed have enough stuff to suffer damage from even an EF1. The video does indeed show a rather nasty waterspout that light damage would most likely occur. Those of us in North America have the distinction of having most of the world's tornados. Still one of my favorite natural phenomena whether it be tornado or waterspout.
There is a significant debri field visible in the vortex, so at least minor damage was occurring in the marina.

However, as I understand from the Wiki article posted earlier, whether a waterspout is tornadic or not has todo with its genesis (how it was formed). Tornadic ones normally being associated w severe weather/supercells. Anyone know the weather conditions at the time?

Non-tornadic water spouts are typically little whispy things (Ive seen loads of those)...that beast in the video I would bet is tornadic.

Here we go. After doing an EXHAUSTIVE search of Youtube videos here is one with several good views of the clouds. No rotation from what is visible. Also absent is the characteristic lightning and hail of a tornado or the forward speed. This truly looks like the Grand Daddy of waterspouts. A very good day to be somewhere else.

Re: Tornado ripped through Marmaris Yacht Marina

It didn't come until our marina but I just went and check today Yachtmarine. The pantoon "H" and "J" are the ones that are only impacted. Pantoon H is broken from 3-4 places, and the biggest damages were there. 3-4 boat on water had the mast broken, 5-6 boat on dry fallen off.
All the boats on pantoon H are ordered to be taken on dry. We 've heard that one boat in anchor just in front of the marina did sink. Thanks God, no casualities anywhere.
The strange thing is that such a thing had never ever happened so far in Marmaris.

Cheers

Wow, pretty amazing a non-tornadic water spout could achieve that size and power.

That is impressive but certainly not a “tornado”

I saw a cold air funnel one time. Curious thing.

Not my video, but looked similar
