We purchased a
boat last Fall in
Turkey. The
boat has been undergoing a medium
refit this
Winter.
As we prepare for our first real season ~6 months on the
new boat we have been
provisioning in the US (Seattle area) for carrying with us to
Turkey in our luggage. The "usual".... Supplies, Tools, Spares, a few clothes, more of all the above...and still more. We are up to 5 or 6 suitcases between 50 and 70lbs + our two carry-one...one stuffed with a new
autopilot and char-plotter display.
So...is it possible and practical to try to ship any/some/all of these goods as an un-accompanied (to us on the airplane) shipment. We have been planning on paying the likely $800+ in baggage charge to avoid
customs issues. We would plan hiring a local (Bodrum) area
broker if we did try to ship.
Any
advice based on
experience would be greatly welcome.
Thanks
