Shengen Treaty bypass

We bought a used boat in France and have been living aboard while outfitting her. After deciding not to cross the Atlantic until next November we've learned we are only allowed to stay in the EU countries for 90 out of 180 days. With at least a few weeks left to finish our projects we are not prepared to just up and leave. Plus we've heard of plenty of Americans cruising the Med. They obviously don't come and go away after 3 months.
So how to we go about getting around this legally? The last thing we want to do is leave or worse get fined or lose our boat. We love it here!

I think most leave for Morocco or Tunisia for 90 days.

we sailed across the atlantic in 2013 and have constantly run into schengren problems. last summer we sailed italy - schengren - albania, montenego and croatia which were not schengren but croatia is now schengren. we sailed back to tunisia via venice and malta and probably over stayed a few days.

we wintered over in tunisia last year and this year and will winter over in turkey next year after sailing sciliy, albania and greece next year.

Croatia is still not in the Schengen area. Also, you should really work on your spelling of "Schengen" since spelling a name correctly (in a search engine) could be the difference between finding and not finding the information you need.

exactly teh same problem for a EU citizen in the USA...isn't there a visa you can ask while you re on the boat in france?

Are you still in France; not the boat you personally. If so you may want to get out for a while if you plan on sail in the EU for the summer. The wx is not conducive right now but you may be able to pick some short windows and make say Gib or Morocco.
