Well.... Our chartplotter shoots better video than most chartplotters.

I uploaded to youtube while sitting here at the anchorage, so you'll need to view it small size.

3pm? what hour did you leave Ponza?!!!! We arrived at 5PM at nearby Ischia anchorage (the one with the castle) and sailed out of Ponza at 8 in the morning.

Truth be said that we sailed almost all the way (except at the beginning) doing between 4 and 8K, but mostly 5 to 6k on the weak wind.

Re: Sardinia Squad

We left Ponza at 5am. Sailed maybe half the distance, motorsailed most of the other half. No wind until around 7:30 or 8am then very light. The wind was on our nose for a couple of hours near where you anchored.

That looks like a nice place to anchor. It's just OK here, lots of day traffic, but tomorrow we'll head into town to meet Matthias for lunch and to look around.

Re: Sardinia Squad

Anybody around Elba these days? Going there tomorrow from Bastia.

Ken,
looks like this is the summer of fridges and freezers. My fridge quit yesterday. It looks like my repair holds so far. Fingers crossed.

Sully and his family are in Portoferraio his Oyster 53. I'll pm you his mobile.

Our freezer is maintaining minus 6 and keeping things frozen. Will get it repaired in late September and carry on.

The north side of Elba is very nice, don't foget to tour Napoleon's house.

We just finished anchoring off Sorrento, and will be here for two days.

Re: Sardinia Squad

Still in Licata/Sicily and will continue along the South coast. Hopefully next week we find a weather window to sail to Sardegna. Around July 10 we plan to be somewhere close to Olbia and will cruise Northern Sardegna and maybe Corse for a few weeks.

Yep, it's only 200 meters away. Only four boats in the anchorage presently, and on the same side of the rock as Paulo's earlier picture.

Re: Sardinia Squad

Just dropped anchor at Porto Frailis, across the hill from Arbatax after 35 hours from Sicily mostly under engine.
A bit rolly here, but nice view.Click image for larger version

Re: Sardinia Squad

Ciao Ken,

I am based in Genova, Marina Porto Antico with my 16 m power catamaran PH8. Next week I will be cruising to Elba where I will be at anchor for about three weeks. Depending on the winds I will anchor either in Porto Azzurro, Porto Ferraio or Marina di Campo. Then I plan to circumnavigate Corsica.
I am new to this forum, so excuse me if I do something wrong.

Re: Sardinia Squad

I'll be heading back to Pompeii on Wednesday, then a quick drive up to Rome to obtain my ICC certificate. Anyone else around Ischia?

Re: Sardinia Squad

Hi all

This is a great idea Ken-well done. We've spent the last four weeks sailing down from Genoa-Portofino-St Margheritta-Portvenere-Isola Capria-Elba and now Giglio-having a ball. Best crushing we've done in the Med so far.

Question-we will be in Rome on Monday/Tuesday-does anyone have any recommendations for marinas/mooring buoys? Thanks a mill. Ciao Sully
