Regattas in Aegean in 2011

When I was a kid I used to love yacht racing. My father had a Columbia 27 and then Columbia 34 and we used to have one race a month against other boats in the Columbia club in Melbourne.

I'm just wondering if there are any regatta's being held in the Aegean that is happy to have both stripped out carbon races and cruisers with a keg of beer and a BBQ on deck

The Aegean Regatta look like something that could be interesting, but I can't fin any info on 2011.

Any suggestions?

Call the Samos Marina office and ask them. There is annual regatta stopping there, but I do not remember details

Hi Hoppy,

I am not familiar with Aegean Regatta but I know that in this area there two major regattas:

Marmaris International Race week in the begining of each November organised by Marmaris International Yacht Club (MIYC). 5 days races 2 offshore + 3 inshore races around Marmaris. Last year there were 130 boats all around the world and it's rather serious kind of race. No BBQ or whatsoever

MARMAR

The other is a channel regattas that is organised each year in cooperation with MIYC and Offshore Yachting Club of Rhodes. This year it will be organised in Rhodes in July 18-21 June. I haven't participated to this one but it seems that it is more on the fun side. Unfortunately their web is not updated but if you are interested I can gather some info for you. The routing change every year, sometimes beetween Dodacanes islands, some times around the island of Rhodes, sometimes combining both Turkish coast and greek islands.

You are looking for the aegean regatta. It visits 4 islands(different every year) and it lasts for one week.
I did this for 8 years and it´s really great.

there are a few regattas through out the season there is the vernicos blue water regatta and the kos regatta
