Re: Propane adapter for Europe

When we left the USA a bunch of years ago and headed to the western carib we went to a propane store and got an adapter and some hose. When we went to one country - can't remember which one - we got an adapter and all good -
when we came across the pond in '13 we had our adapter and at some places we could get gas and others not. In Tunisia we gave them our adapters and they took one of their bottles and did a bottle to bottle transfer. In other countries some will only exchange bottles. It is really a hit miss - In Turkey we got our bottles refilled at some places and not others and sometimes a guy would fill it and the next time would not. We are on our 3rd winter in Turkey and last year we got a Turkish bottle and made a slight change to our system - Most want to exchange bottles but our bottle is a different diameter and length than the rest so we do not exchange and at times have trouble getting it filled. We did get it filled in Greece -
we still have our adapters and 2 full USA tanks that we do not use and use only the Turkish tank now as long as we can get it filled.

Re: Propane adapter for Europe

Propane is a never ending story. We will use it only for the BBQ, the galley we will convert to all-electric (lithium batteries, inverter, generator, solar) The BBQ bottle will last for years, I guess...

I used propane for all cooking and bbq for 2 years in Europe and only used four 20# bottles.
I have 4, so i fill as convenient.

Re: Propane adapter for Europe

Hi all.

I bought Butane in France when I got the boat... I'm in Spain now and unfortunately cannot find the same bottles so I can replace them.

Anyone with a similar experience that can tell me whether the French bottles can be found in the Barcelona area?

Thanks.
