In North America, Active Captain is a good approximation and I've yet to find a marina that doesn't have at least basic info listed.

I've noticed, it's starting to catch on in Europe but still spotty there.

If you put it on your credit card just challenge the payment through visa. You will never hear anything again.

I am a contribtor for Active Captain - but have been constrained by our on-board wifi - am waiting for a gap to do the lot.

The same rule applies in some Maroccan marinas. It is not a cheat, it is just the way they charge.

Greece is in deep economical and social trouble. Tourism is their important income source. You are the tourist.

Play nice. Sometimes you get 'penalized' just because you have disrupted someone's siesta.

This is South. Learn to think the South way and you will be fine.

The difference here being that Kris wanted to check out BEFORE midnight but the thieving barstewards decided to bugger off early and so check out was not able to be done

Hi KRIS
I am not sure who tried what pull on you
but responsible seemingly is a male manager Mr. Patsioydis
...and his "Boss" is a public company with a reputation (to loose):
Hellenic Tourism Properties S.A.
"You can contact us either by e-mail, completing the special form in the adjacent column, or by fax to 210 3339712, explaining in detail your complaint regarding our services."

Tel. : +30-2310-444.598 and +30-2310-444.595
Fax : +30-2310-444.585
e-mail : thess-mar@etasa.gr

Thessaloniki Marina is managed
by Hellenic Tourism Properties S.A.
a leading Greek real estate asset manager,
acting in between the Public & Private sector

CONTACT
Contact us by email at info@etasa.gr,
or dial one of the following telephone or fax numbers, depending on your request.

CEO’s Office
Tel.: (+30) 210 3339 510 / 566
Fax: (+30) 210 3339 507

+++

BTW: They seem to have pulled their Berthing-Contract - Application form
http://www.thessaloniki-marina.gr/do...si-Simvasi.doc
gives a 404 not found

Online Pricelist is from 2011 (but seems reasonable)
http://www.thessaloniki-marina.gr/PRICELIST_2011.pdf

Under REGULATIONS you find only prices for Electricity,Tel. and Water:

I think at least one of the above is better then the town mayor
Good luck

...yeah...
I am a valuable source of income - a cow to be milked
And since they are bankrupt - I learn to "go south" as well...

Thanks vRUN , will continue the process....

I am not sure I will get my money back , but this is a process I will follow thru on...

I am un-likely to ever return to that marina so hopefully my info is usefull to every potential customer - I have already updated Cruisers-wiki !

Re: Mugged - by a marina

Seems every Marina is different on this coast. This on in Marina Del Rey wanted a $30 deposit on a card key. No problem except they told me it will take over 60 days to refund my debit card. I have a feeling they will conveniently forget as I probably will also.

Yep. In Santa Barbara you have to purchase the key. They'll reactivate it for you if you ever return. If you never plan to return, you still have to purchase the key.

Some places in Australia the key deposit is $50. However, they usually refund the deposit in cash or take the amount off the bill.

Yep...I was there last week. Just another $7. It adds up after awhile.

You cannot check out while they are not there. This one thing remains fixed, even in places where time seems to be relative.

You know 'early' is a relative term too. And the more South you will go, the earlier it will become ...

So, you had your lesson. I hope you like Retsina and goat cheese. What you paid for that lesson you will more than make up in lower wine and food prices.

Take care, smile, tomorrow another sunny sailing day!
