We arrived in Bar at the weekend (18 May 2014) and discovered that Montenegro now requires an
insurance certificate with Euros 800,000 third party risks cover – an increase of 300,000 compared with the new Greek requirement. We had only just obtained a revised certificate from our insurers to meet the new Greek limits of Euros 500,000 injury, 150,000 damage and 150,000 pollution.
Luckily, we managed to bend the harbourmaster’s arm because our policy had
cumulative cover for that amount, but he said his colleague might not have been so lenient. It appears that they are even prepared to turn yachts away, although in practice they would probably give you 24 hours' breathing space to contact your
insurance company for a revised certificate.
Worth checking your third party insurance cover if you're planning to come here.
