Levkas yacht repairs

Hi all,
I will be repairing GRP sailing catamaran in Cleopatra. Levkas in April 2019.
I am looking for tips on where to find necessary repair supplies and tools. Primary needs will be:
1. Replace house and engine batteries
2. Purchase / rent polisher for deck and hulls
3. Replace / repair inflatable - pontoons need replacement.
4. Service kits / spares for Yanmar 3YM30 engine and Yanmar SD20 saildrives
5. LED lighting
6. Navigation lights
7. Regass refrigerator & freezer
8. Buy 2-3kva portable generator
9. Replace bimini - currently soft so looking to build hard top with canvas sides. Where can I find Nidacore or similar boards and general fiber glassing supplies.
10. Replacement fuel filters
11. Grease (winch servicing), cleaning items, etc.
12. Source desalinator
13. Source aircon - ducting already in place
14. Galvanize anchor chain and maybe anchor
15. Antifouling

Any experience with buying online from other EU or non EU websites and shipping to Levkas? VAT, import duties, other charges, best suppliers, tips.

Will need accommodation for 2 close to Cleopatra boat yard, any recommendations?

Has anyone worked on their boat in Cleopatra? I am advised I can work on my boat but the T&C say only they can do external work. Anyone done there own anti fouling?

Also, if any of this is cheaper / easier to do in other countries please let me know.

I would suggest a trip to Lefkas marina - several chandleries that may provide you with help/advice/equipment.

I also have my boat in Cleopatra Marina, Preveza and I will be doing some of the things on your list, also in April 2019. There is a very well equipped marine shop in the marina and many in near Lefkada/Nidri. You can get anything you need very easily. Here are some particular comments:

15) Probably I will contract the Marina to do the painting of the anti-fouling but the paint will be supplied by me. They allow people to work there and I will be polishing the hull myself. In 2015 they applied the anti fouling with the paints supplied by me. I do not remember the price but it was reasonable. With respect to accommodation, you can stay in the boat but it is not good if toilets are far away from the boat (and they charge a small amount per day and per person). I prefer to rent a small apartment in Lefkada as in Preveza you need to pay 3 euros toll, each way, to go through the tunnel. Next January I will flight from Porto to Athens, will rent a car in the airport, and will rent a small apartment for a week in Lefkada town.

We have our boat a bit further down the road at Aktio marina.
We bring everything we need from England and only buy locally what we forgot or can't ship. Most of what you want can be found in the area but prices can be higher.
Sources for marine stuff are the three yards in Aktio, a couple of chandleries and hardware shops in Preveza and Lefkas.

Here are my answers and comments to your last post:

- For my dinghy and anti fouling, if I remember, I just paid the VAT included price shown when you click the links that I posted. On top of that I only paid 40 euros for the 2 (big) packages dispatched from Spain to Greece. So I think I have paid the 21% Spanish tax instead of the 24% Greek tax. May be I am wrong but I think few businesses around EU will distinguish about the tax of the countries of departure and destination. One exception is amazon.co.uk which uses the 24% Portuguese tax when the send goods to me.

- Some years ago I ordered from EV-Power my solar panels MPPT regulator and I was very satisfied with their prices and service.

- SVB24 is very good except that their very low shipping costs for EU countries do not include Greece

VAT: once you buy something within the EU, and the seller charges his local country VAT, this is the end of the story. You may send it to any other EU country and no more VAT will be charged (or refunded).
This is the meaning of the EU being one unit for customs purpose.

In the majority of occasions it is like you say. But if you are buying from a BIG company there is a possibility that the VAT is that of the destination country. This happens when I buy from Amazon EU parcels to be delivered at my Portuguese address. They charge VAT at 23% (23% is the VAT in Portugal). The reason is that Amazon Eu sells more than 35.000 Euros per year to Portuguese final consumers. In the case of Greece as a destination this VAT threshold is also 35.000 euros (100.000 euros in other countries).

Doesn't happen in Greece. I bought loads from amazon when I was there. Mostly because while you can get most basic things locally, you will not find anything even slightly out of the ordinary. Want monel rivets - no chance, need low profile bolts, or perhaps some cup washers - forget it, need any drill tap bits less than M6 - you'll be importing them.

One thing I did find though was tinned electrical cable was priced well, and Thalasis Marine in Lefkas would happily try to match or better SVB on electrical items.

Nautilus was probably my preferred chandler, but they are expensive. They do however deliver to Preveza if you need.

Kitsima in Lefkas sell Karcher units if you need, but there will probably someone in Lefkas marina that would let you borrow on.
