Lakes in Austria

I am new to electronic charting but would like to practice using openCPN. I am presently based on a lake in Austria and as there are no charts for this area and anyway little if any nav data (depth is not important) I figured I could use an electronic land map where I could at least practice using waypoints etc. Does anybody know of a map system that I could use in openCPN?

One way of obtaining an electronic navigation chart of your local lake would be to make it yourself.

You should be able to do that by converting the appropriate Google Earth satellite image to the 'BSB KAP' format of electronic navigation charts. It's not impossible!
