surely ALL pleasure vessels need a depka in greek waters regardless of propulsion

here is the new regulation in greek, with parts in english(,the bit where they issue the skipper with a fine for non payment)

It's funny how you mention west Africa above and is where I am cruising now hehe .

Yes they require dekpa but you get discounts on sailboats , I don't know with foreign flags but mine on lembologio gets about 80 % 50 for being sailboat and 30 for the age , same for the taxes.
P.S in Greeks is mentioned as pleasure tax (I cant find the exact translation ) and this tax doesn't apply on sailboats , so it might not.

Re: Greece Update

I did read it , it states all the vessels sailing in Greek waters , during the time in the water, you can get excluded if.the boat is on the hard .
Yes they state the user or the owner is reliable for paying the fees , so the skipper can be charged .
I will get more information tommorow from the port police .

Don't see what the problem is. Mass exodus of large yachts to Turkey leaves lots of room for little yachts.

Pete

I'll get my coat.

I have had a long phone call this morning with the head of Indirect Taxation Implementation, and have been told its a complete cockup. There will be a ministerial announcement later to day initially dealing with the deadline - which is the most important point at this stage. Once we have this we can then carry on to knock off our other point. This department was unaware of the tax being extended to All non Greek flagged pleasure boats until yesterday!
So the word is now Don't do anything and await more information.

I think Chris deserves an MBE for his work dealing with the Greek Taxation departments, must be like wading through treacle.

I m in Greece, and I have a semi-catamaran Twice your fee for same size of boat, except mine is twice your length and half your beam. Will leave the country if this comes into effect.
