Free Tap Water in Greece / Greek Islands

We tend to anchor whenever and wherever we can and so are on the lookout for topping up our water

Lefkada Vligho Bay Vligho Yacht Club

Messalonghi Town Quay

are two of the places free water can be obtained.

Off to Trizonia on the way to Corinth Canal and there used to be free water there.

Info on other free water between Corinth - Kos - North Cyprus would be greatly appreciated.

In Vliho bay there is a tap at the back of the chandlery (or fisherman supply shop) that’s connected to the boatyard. It has good spring water and local residents come there to get their drinking water.

Not what you asked but could be useful for others:

On our way around the Pelopennese we filled with good quality free water in Killini, Kiparissia, Pilos, Yithion and Monemvasia. Currently looking for water around the Saronic Gulf. Any updates would be very useful.

Sorry for topping this ancient thread... I just wanted to learn a bit about Killini (or Kyllini).

It seems an unpopular destination. Rod Heikell doesn't even mention it in his guide. But on photos I can see a few sailing yachts moored in what seems like a fishing harbor.

I want to stay there for a night to take onboard some friends from mainland Greece. Is it quite ok to stay there? Nice to hear that there are free water, but are there any mooring fees? And does this port have any facilities like shower, electricity?

Thank you.

It's been a few years since we were there so our info is probably a bit out of date. There were no facilities other than water and power on the quay. The plan in Rod Heikell's pilot book shows the commercial harbour and the small fishing harbour. Yachts can go into the fishing harbour but beware of depths at the entrance. We are 2.8m deep and managed to get in by watching carefully, the google earth image shows the many shoal patches around. The harbour is safe, the 'town' is sparse, very few shops, a few restaurants/tavernas, lots of ferries to Zakynthos. The beach is lovely, very shallow for a long way out so the water is warm.

We didn't pay any fees but that situation changes every year all over Greece!

Re: Free Tap Water in Greece / Greek Islands

Most of the Greek islalnds on yr way are vulconic and have very scarce source of water, particularly in summer.. For most of them the water are carried from Rhodes by tankers.
Turkey is more lucky in this regard but frankly I don't know anywhere where you can get free water unless you are in one of the coountless restaurant jetties or in a marina. (most of the marinas are charging for it) They won't charge you anything in jetties as long you have a dinner or breakfast there and the quality of water is very good.
Not all of them have water and or electricity supplied to the boats.
On yr routeI am adding electicity as well for those who needs to charge their batteries,"W" standing for water and "E" for electricity.)
Simi: E, W maybe..
Bozburun: E,W (small marina)
Söğüt:E,W( go to the rest. at the very end of the bay. Octopus rest is one of the best in the area)
Bozukkale: None in any of the 3 restaurants..
Çiftlik: E,W (many rest, all of them have both W and E)
Ekincik) E,W (rest)
Göçek bays: very few would have water an electricty, the one in Kapı Creek is OK. Otherwise the marinas in Göçek and Fethiye have all.
Kalkan/Kas : E,W in marinas.
Kekova: E,W in rest.
Finike: E,W in the marina
Antalya : E,W marina
Alanya: E,W marina
North Cyprus :Girne (haven't been but you should be able to get a supply.
Karpaz marina: excellent marina , you can get anything..also port of entry for Northern Cyprus and very convenient.

A warning: never get a fuel in Greek islands delivered by small jars and small tankers. Always look for a decent fuel stations. You cannot believe what kind of staff are we getting from the filters of the boat filled up this way in small and remote islands..Fuel stations :At the entry of Simi on yr port side, all of the marinas in Marmaris, one in Göçek, Antalya, Alanya, Girne and Karpaz..

Cheers
