entry formalities from Croatia to Italy

I understand that vessels (under 24m) arriving from another EU country, with only EU nationals on board, are not required to complete any formalities entering Italy.
But I am not sure how this works when a boat is arriving from non-Schengen country such as Croatia (EU member but non Schengen area) to Italy. Is immigration procedure required or a cruise permit should be obtained from the Italian coast guard?

I do this several times a season, Italy to Croatia and back. You need to check in, check out both countries. If I were you, I'd go to the coast guard office when you arrive in Italy and ask them about the constituto, and see if it's required of you.

Re: entry formalities from Croatia to Italy

Thank you for the advice. Croatia is a bit confusing with immigration and border issues. Even it is EU member they are not part of Shengen so I was not sure what procedure applies on trip from Croatia to Italy. Last time I did not check in/out with Italian immigration but may be this was not correct procedure. Although I checked with some local sailors in Croatia just today and they assured me that no immigration is required in Italy.
