(the marinas that are off limits for us are in Ceuta and Melilla)

Thank you
Yup, they are both Spanish territories.. the only other place is Tangier in the Strait that I know.
You could research here.. Marinas of Morocco

Tangier was not in the 5* marina league unless things have changed since over 10yrs ago last time I went there, it all depends how long you want to stay I guess.
For an 18mth reboot for your boat a couple of days is simple enough, a longer stay with no one on board... dunno.
This is the new marina being built, how far along it is you would have to contact them and ask but the aerial picture looks impressive..

Re: Cruising West Med with USA passport for 6 months

Remember that the Schengen rules for non EU nationals is not a simple "get out for a couple of days to reset" it is a full 90 days in rolling 180 so if you are in Schengen for 90 days you MUST remain out of Schengen for a full 90 days.

If you are planning on cruising in Europe for 6 months then you will need a full EU extended visa. This is not a long stay national visa, say for Spain, but a full Schengen extended stay visa.

A long stay Schengen tourist visa was talked about years ago but was never implemented.
