Cruising Guidebook for Italy Recommendations?

I'm looking for a good cruising guide book for mainland Italy and Sicily. Any recommendations will be helpful, especially a guide which includes anchorages near all the main ports.

Thanks in advance.

Imray's Italian Waters Pilot by the Heikells is probably the most popular. A new edition came out in late 2015.

i just bought it and it seems thorough.

The Adriatic coast is not covered though.

In Greece I uses their books and have been happy with them and will definitely buy the Italian Waters Pilot if I head west as planned this year.

Re: Cruising Guidebook for Italy Recommendations?

Hello,

I made 3 times the crossing through the North and East coast of Sicily. Regarding anchorages inside the main ports I used Trapani, Castellammare del Golfo and Siracusa. With precaution I used the anchorages of Cefalu and Taormina/Giardini Naxus. In Caloforte (Sardinia) I was able (on my second time on that port) to moor on a public quay inside the port. I also know the south coast of Italy and part of the east (Adriatic) coast. I often use the anchorage of Otranto before crossing to Greece. Or further north, in Brindisi, I can moor in the public quay in the centre of the town before crossing to Montenegro or Croatia. If you need any advice on the above possibilities I will be happy to share with you.

And yes, Italy Waters, is my guide!

Regards, Vladis

Also, check out http://www.cruiserswiki.org/wiki/Italy and http://www.cruiserswiki.org/wiki/Sicily, if you haven't already done so. Cheaper than the pilot books!

Re: Cruising Guidebook for Italy Recommendations?

Thank you for the suggestions so far. I'll also be contacting some of our cruising friends met via CF to find some of the lesser known anchorages. Charlie provided some excellent advice last season when we visited the North west corner of Italy. Sometimes the best spots aren't mentioned in the guide books.
