canal Route from Paris to Baltic?

I understand that some of the European canals have silted up, so they no longer have the depth shown on charts and cruising guides.

First, is there a website that shows current depths of canals?

Second, can anyone recommend a route from Paris to the Baltic that’s open to a boat with 1.8m draft?

Preferably scenic!

TIA

Re: canal Route from Paris to Baltic?

I’m heading down to Med from Baltics through the canals next year. So I have don lot of research. You should be able to do what you describe fairly easily.

There are plenty of canals and river from Paris to Belgian and Netherlands. From there you can take the mast up route that will take you very near Kiel canal. After Kiel you are in the Baltics.

Here are some useful links:

Hey, thanks! I expected more interest in this post, but I guess its not as popular as I thought! That's a good thing.

We are trying to decide whether to go to the Baltic with the mast up or down through the canals. I'm researching both options so your links will help. I think I've only found one of them on my own.

Re: canal Route from Paris to Baltic?

Hadn't come across this post until now. I have been a professional delivery skipper for the past 50 years. It is always possible to travel the canals of Europe in winter, where there is commercial traffic, etc.

I have introduced many on here of an interesting browser based chart for all canal routes of Europe. If the OP is interested, please PM me. Thanks, Martin Parr
