Unfortunately, that article is from 2016. i think it was knocked back. But, i do hope it is true and that it remains on the agenda - and is given some serious thought.

you can sign up here

https://goodlawproject.org/petition/...8nf5So_bjzux4c

ASSOCIATE CITIZENSHIP PETITION
Dear Prime Minister,

We will now, it is clear, leave the EU. Those who did not want this have lost. I understand you believe this to be in the national interest and that you have a democratic mandate for it. But I hope you can understand that for me, and my fellow signatories, it will involve a profound wrench. We will experience it as the loss of an important part of our identity.

So I write to ask you, respectfully, to take up an initiative your predecessor declined to support in your negotiations on our future relationship with the EU. The initiative is for a form of Associate Citizenship – for those who want it. It will not hinder your negotiations but it would be a hugely significant olive branch to us.

For you to take up the initiative would be the act of a statesman, it is precisely what bringing the country together looks like.

With kind regards,

Jolyon Maugham QC, and the following signatories.

Re: BREXIT

And for all you who keep your money in EU banks - DON'T. They have only 1% in reserves should there be a run on them. Canada has about 5% in reserves and USofA banks about 10%.

Could you explain the differences between Capital requirements vs Reserve requirements?
How does the ratio of bank liquid reserves to bank assets play into this?
What other factors affect bank stability & resilience?
I understood that Canada, the UK, New Zealand, Australia, Sweden and Hong Kong, for instance, have no reserve requirements.

Re: BREXIT

10% in reserve is what the banks receive from the CB/Fed every day to handle the day to day operations. If you put $10,000USD into your account today and want it back tomorrow - your bank can't do it. The most you could get back is $1,000

Currently the Fed is dumping $500Mn/day into the REPO markets - banks don't trust each other which is adding to the crisis. Look for another recession in 20-21 that will be far worse than 07-08.

There will not be any bail outs....bail ins expected. With large depositors - they'll receive non-voting shares in their bank. Can't sell them - you're stuck with them. In effect they've stolen your money.

I understood that Canada, the UK, New Zealand, Australia, Sweden and Hong Kong, for instance, have no reserve requirements.

The Bank of England wants to reduce the chances of banks needing taxpayer bailouts.

The Bank said that the level of reserves compared to loans could rise from 3% to 4.95% from 2019.

That means banks would need to hold £1 of capital for every £20 they lend, compared with £1 for every £33 today.

Some move to Jersey for tax reasons others move to not be a drain on the state and be able to afford to pay their own way.
Rather this than claim rent rebates, council tax relief and all the other benefits like so many..
Happy enough with my State pension and a couple of jobs a year, it beats scamming my way through life.

And the ones claiming disability and rent etc then hod carrying, plumbing, white vanning etc are hilarious when they get caught on the golf links.. or their jet bikes.
One does not have to leave B'mth, Brighton, Eastbourne, Salcombe etc to see this..

if you must have a euro account a german bank is your safest bet, they have large reserves.
most likely scenario is the german banks dump the euro and convert back to duchmarks protecting their account holders, and leave greece, italy, ireland etc holding the euro baby

Deutsche Bank Struggles to Survive
German financial services giant Deutsche Bank AG is one of the largest and most important economic institutions in the world. Mainly due to self-imposed scandals, the bank is now having to take drastic measures to stay afloat. Investors everywhere should note that if such a critical piece of the too-big-to-fail banking system falters, it could trigger another global financial crisis.
