Still cheaper. When I lived in Indiana, the oldster train would take heaps of pensioners up to the Canadian border and get their prescriptions filled. HUGE price reduction... Half even.

Re: BREXIT

FYI here is the article in full for what it is worth
Jon StonePolitical Correspondent @joncstone

EU negotiators will offer British people the chance to individually opt-in and remain EU citizens as a proposal in Brexit negotiations, the European Parliament’s chief negotiator has confirmed.

The plan, first revealed in its early stages by The Independent last month, was being considered as a long-term aim by the European Parliament – but has now been fast-tracked to the negotiating table by Guy Verhofstadt, who is in charge of thrashing out a post-Brexit deal.

Mr Verhofstadt said the “very important” proposal had “captured the imagination and hopes” of many British people who wished to retain their rights as EU citizens and would be in his negotiating mandate.

The plan would see Brits offered individual “associate citizenship”, letting them keep free movement to live and work across the EU, as well as a vote in European Parliament elections.

The proposal could potentially give Brits who live and work across borders a workaround to the disruption caused by the Leave vote – and young people looking to flee an increasingly isolated UK greater choice over where to move to.

Depending on the approach taken by EU negotiators, the idea would likely be subject to approval by the British Government.

Mr Verhofstadt is drawing up a report with the European Parliament’s Committee on Constitutional Affairs about proposed long-term changes to the EU’s structure. The plan was originally proposed by Luxembourg MEP Charles Goerens for inclusion in the report, but will now bypass that process and be taken forward independently.

The chief negotiator told the committee’s members: “We come to the vote of this important amendment 882, tabled by colleague Charles Goerens. It is an important amendment that has captured the imagination and hopes of many of the 48 per cent of Brits that have voted to remain in the EU. You will all have received many emails about this – and there has been many articles about this.

“It has therefore become a very important issue that cannot await treaty change – as envisaged by Charles when he first tabled it.

“I am therefore proposing to remove it from my report – which after all is concerned with Treaty change – and to include it in the negotiations we will have with the UK Government. I as Brexit negotiator for the Parliament will ensure that it is included in the parliament’s negotiating mandate.”

Is that where my tax dollars are going? Wexit research? ...maybe I should get him to fund me a trip there too so we can have jolly old fight brexit-style.

Doesn't it seem like the whole bluddy world wants to stop being a part of the rest fo the world in some way?

That's because we've now seen what out of control bureaucracies such as UN and its various agencies, the EU etc are doing to us.

Not at all. The opposite in fact. Countries only want to engage with the rest of the world on their own terms, based on their own unique cultural, economic, and sociopolitical systems.

It's overrated because it's once again a naively idealistic if not utopian goal that fails to accept the reality of the unique and often fundamental differences between regions, countries, and peoples. Ditto for the equally artificial and made up concept of "multiculturalism." Not that these ideals aren't necessarily worthwhile goals, but people have rejected them again & again no matter what label is attached to them. Didn't the EU start off after WW2 as an economic/trade union only, with the idea being that countries that trade with each other would be less likely to go to war? Seemed like an awfully good idea at the time, and still is under certain circumstances. But how did it morph into unelected, unaccountable technocrats in Brussels controlling Britons (of all people ) on all types of issues, incl. for e.g. how their own fishing grounds -- in their own waters -- were to be regulated?

What's ironic is that it wasn't that long ago that self-determination, self-rule, and more direct representation for citizens of nation-states were cornerstones of a liberal/progressive agenda. What happened? Was it the infatuation with socialism/communism that drove the agenda away from the long-held Western ideal of empowering the individual? Why are people who desire more control over their own affairs labeled "extremists," or apparently now "Brextremists??"

I'm sure this is an oversimplification, and there's plenty of valid & reasonable factors which also weigh against leaving the EU at this point. But why is the desire of the 52% (or whatever) who wish to leave labeled a "conservative" position. Weren't there plenty of Tories who have also been resisting acting on the referendum? Isn't that why the "Brexiteers" formed their own political party?

many are probably dodging tax liability in both countries, whilst technically not resident in either, yet still accessing health care and other benefits in both countries, without having to pay into the system

Yea, it makes you long for the good old days when we could solve global issues with a World War or two.

Until the 'revolution', 'globalism' is permanent.

Don't think the powers that be give a damn about Brexit or western-world psuedo-policy fights in the least; keep-um agitated whilst we rob both sides...

Just for grins, here's a short video showing the growth of foreign reserves by top 20 countries from 1960-2018. My understanding is that 'foreign reserves' might be looked at as 'ability to pay'. It is worth noting that after Bretton Woods agreements ended in the 70s these reserves were expected to decrease, whereupon they immediately began to grow. Certainly gives one confidence in the strength of financial theory...
