Perhaps they had too much beam and top hamper for the barge

About 1:18 on the clip is what appears to be Charles Lightoller's yacht Sundowner. Lightoller as some will recall had been second officer of the ill-fated Titanic. Lightoller made at least one round trip to Dunkirk with her to pick soldiers up and evacuate them back to England.

Looked again, and it is the white job at about 1:10-1:18. The number of portholes and spacing is correct, at least. Here is a link to the Sundowner:
The Return Of CH Lightoller :: A Reincarnation Story
and another with a photo of her off Dunkirk during the evacuation.

Re: Atoll's Adventure, Offshore in a Canal Barge!
It has been so long since I've last been to London, I was still using a film camera. I noticed the Tower Bridge in your pictures, here is my scanned picture during a break from the North Sea, 1999.

I'm like you Bob, most all of my travels were sans camera. Typically my month off from the North Sea, I would just travel on my own without a camera. That picture was taken when I had a lady friend join me for that month off, so had my Minolta 35mm. The ladyfriend, Denise........
