Anchoring in Gibraltar

In a couple of weeks, we will be arriving in Gibraltar from the Açores. It is likely that we will be a one-engined cat, so med-mooring in one of the marinas is an evolution I would rather avoid.

Does anyone with recent experience know if there is a place within the Gibraltar breakwater (not Spain for Schengin reasons) where I can legally anchor for 24-48 hours to check/out and do some quick provisioning?

I seem to recall seeing a few vessels anchored on the north end of the harbor (left as you face shore) near E Head when I passed through last year, but I'm not sure. Any help is appreciated.

I don't think you can anchor inside the Gib breakwater for any length of time. I've certainly neve seen any pleasure boat's anchored there. You might get away with it for a few hours.
