ag Nikolaus

I'll be setting off from palma in a few weeks, final destination Crete. Do any of my fellow cruisers no if there are any free berths around ag Nikolaus and what costs are involved with berthing on the lake ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: ag Nikolaus

I've been there twice; one of the most beatiful cities in the Med..

The marina fees depends on the season. I've paid something in the range of 70 € a day fo a 43 catamaran.

There is no entry to the lake for a sailboat; the bridge is only 3 m high

Cheers

Re: ag Nikolaus

You can anchor in the lagoon at Spinalonga free of charge. I wouldn't leave the boat there for more than a day unattended. The shelter is good, the local town (Elounda) is lively and there are good transport links to Ag Nik and Heraklion. The marina at Ag Nik tends to get booked up very quickly. We've spent the last four winters on board, at anchor, in Spinalonga so if you want more info please ask :-)

Try YBW liveaboard link. Ask for TONY. He lives there on his yach every winter and is very very helpfull. We spent a winter there on our cat.

Good luck.

Re: ag Nikolaus

Thanks for the replies, bad news about the bridge as my draft is 3.26m maybe as few sandbags would help. I'll check out spinalonga on the map sounds like s nice idea.

Re: ag Nikolaus

Does anyone know if there are any charges for staying on the lake if you can get under the bridge ?

There is absolutely NO way under the bridge unless you are a tiny fishing boat or in the dinghy.

Re: ag Nikolaus

I think you'd be a novelty - the lake is really only used by small fishing boats.
