Seems like the USA spends about 3 times more than Canada on defense as a function of GDP so Canada can afford national health care.

And why do Canadians pour over the border to get US health care, re. Bellingham, WA.

We could go on here for 1000 posts...

Are we allowed to kayak to the US? If so what are the procedures.

THANKS

My Canadian friends say, and I quote:
"Living in Canada is the equivalent of living in the apartment above a meth lab."

When will this phase of this Economic Lock-Down be 'lifted'?
The people to ask would be politicians, not medical doctors.

I was a Physical Therapist for decades.
Every doctor and every nurse I know says this Economic Lock-Down is a joke, utterly unrelated to any known medical reality.

As long as you and your friends aren't running the medical system in Canada, I'm okay with your views.

If one of you is a US citizen that person can enter the US and bring along their spouse (with marriage certificate as proof of relationship). Vice-versa entering Canada. I don't know that the mode of transport has any bearing. Probably need to check in at nearest border crossing point (road, harbour, etc.). If neither of you is a US citizen your entry into the US is prohibited except for essential travel. Kayaking is NOT essential travel :-)

Re: US / Canada border restrictions predictions...

WOW so many have drunk the Kool-aid on here I'm shocked. Thought there would be calmer minds and way better researched.

This is a false flag pandemic to see if every one will fall inline.

I'm happy moved my boat south away from the fear mongers. Cut my Moorage costs in half and now can cruse miles and miles and never leave the states. Thinking Me and my Money might never see Canada again!

Not arguing but it's less a matter of who is right and more a matter of perspective.

The amount the US spends on the military in relation to other costs is mind boggling to the average Canadian. No other country in the world can afford to spend that much—so the question that we ask ourselves is, if no one else does it, is it strictly necessary?

As for the cross border stuff, is anyone in the world immune to the logic of "if I can pay form preferential treatment, then why wouldn't I?" The difference is that if we can't pay to cross the border then generally a little patience (ok, sometimes a lot of patience) will see it done for free.

As to what this all has to do with the border reopening, well in the end my money is on one sort of economic pressure or another forcing a reopening, because increasingly I have a hard time believing in an effective or reliable vaccine appearing anytime soon.

Re: US / Canada border restrictions predictions...

Maybe the oil spigot from Canada to the US needs to be closed along with the border closure.

Re: US / Canada border restrictions predictions...

Problem for BC residents who own boats moored in the three marinas just south of the border haven't been able to visit their boats since March - no maintenance etc. Quite a worry re anodes etc and no opening in the near future.

That sentiment is better left unexpressed.

Ummm. Why so more than the original sentiment? Besides its a weird (to me) American quirk to state/think that "their Money" is somehow a major driver in outcomes. Not exactly the first thing a Canadian reaches for.
