Re: The Reality of Living in Australia and Covid
In brutal and unequivocal terms economies are composed of parasitic and productive sectors.
In the covid instance in Australia the productive sector has done all the suffering and the parasitic been prospered and enriched.
My sympathies will always favor the productive, you favor who you please.

AFAIK, all the demos are taking place in the various state capitals and none in any capitol.
You may of course, be attending a different demo (i.e. one in some capitol somewhere) but I think this is unlikely.

Interesting that you consider oil & gas / mining / construction / manufacturing / financial / big box retail etc to be the parasitic while small retail / arts / entertainment / retail food etc to be the productive.

Australian police arrested hundreds of anti-lockdown protesters in Melbourne and Sydney, on Saturday and seven officers were hospitalised, as a result of clashes, as the country saw its highest ever single-day rise in COVID-19 cases.

Well... without the food producers, suppliers and retail blue collar people all those other folks would starve to death and for the others, you'd have no music, film or social media to occupy you during lockdowns..
I think the dig is more at the top heavy white collar 'non productive' office staff riding on the backs of the men and women in the field..
Mind.. this being a mainly 'white collar club' I expect some backlash..

Given that you live in a state with the lowest vaccination rate in the country especially in the north.
To give some context here are two graphs for NSW - daily new cases and numbers hospitalised. How many spare beds do you have in WA?

Re: The Reality of Living in Australia and Covid
I would propose a simple correction to the title of this thread.
The Reality of Living.
With a pandemic there is the alternative to consider. One could be a Covidiot and just die or cause others to die.

Or just accept the simple fact.. everyone's gotta die of something and Covid is just making Bronze in the list of causes..
According to the CDC data, heart disease killed 705,000 people in 2020, cancer killed 609,000, and COVID-19 killed 356,000. Accounting for the change in population, both cancer and heart disease deaths were higher in 2020 than 2019. Heart disease, cancer, and COVID-19 were the top causes of death in 2020.

But perhaps one is missing the point as to vaccination and COVID prevention protocols, heart disease and cancer are not contagious, whereas SARS-CoV-2 is highly contagious. One can assist in mitigation of the virus, one can't mitigate others from heart or cancer. And there is no vaccine for heart disease or cancer, yet.

Your mistake this time.
Productive = producers of wealth and that is anyone ranging from the cottage artist making ceramics in a back yard studio.
Parasitic = consumers of wealth who contribute nothing or a contribution in no way commensurate with the contribution they make.
Not a matter of size or status.
