Notice the ITA is keeping a very low profile on this.

Lots of Dickhedsian behaviour at all levels. Seems only a few fans greeted him when he arrived at Nikola Tesla Aeropuerto. Maybe he has gone from national hero to national embarrassment.
Meanwhile, back on track. According to The Age it appears that Omicron may have peaked in the state of Victoria.

Re: The Reality of Living in Australia and Covid
Finally, the focus returned to tennis, in Australia, with a combined 64 singles matches, on opening day.
Rafael Nadal renewed his bid for a record 21st Grand Slam singles title, with a 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 win over Marcos Giron. Nadal is tied with Djokovic and Roger Federer with 20 major singles titles each, the most in the history of men’s tennis.
Naomi Osaka won the first five games on her way to a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Camila Osorio.
French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova, fifth-seeded Maria Sakkari, No. 15 Elina Svitolina and two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka all advanced.
Salvatore Caruso, who lost in qualifying, but became the so-called ‘lucky loser’ to fill the late vacancy in the draw, took the court and lost to Miomir Kecmanovic 6-4, 6-2, 6-1.

I haven't followed this post by post but it would seem that if an exception to the norm. was as made for Novak it would be throwing salt in the wounds of those that couldn't even travel state to state.

"Australia is also one of the countries with the most equitable distributions of wealth compared with other developed nations, such as the UK and the USA. Only six per cent of Australians have net worth under US$10,000, compared to 18 per cent in the UK and 28 per cent in the USA."
A very interesting one

Australia's the place to be but you need to fly to get here. Refugees by boat dont have much luck with the border police.
America lives on its 1950's economy built from slavery. The avg person is not as well off nor has as decent a life as an Australian, nor do Americans live as long. I simply couldn't afford to live in America but here in OZ life is sensational. "Freedom" that Americans scream as they wave a million flags is an illusion as is the American dream- whatever that is.

I find the IQ test on the immigration form a helpful addition.

Yes, something like that…
I’ve had a hard time following the convoluted responses of the federal government on this one, but I think they have been painfully aware that it would look very bad given the problems Aussies have experienced in getting home.

We australians have been pissed orf about the favourable treatment of the rich and famous at our borders for the last two years. Novax was the first one to stick his head above the parapet, he made a very easy target.

And they don't just do it because they can, they do it with a reason.
