And if he wants to go out and murder a few elderly or disabled people while he’s here, well that’s just the price of freedom.”

THAT right there is highly amusing. No Chinese would ever say anything like that.......oh wait.

HONG KONG officials ( Now Mainland China) recently let Nichole Kidman in with NO quarantine....which was a bloody shocker. My lady had the recent privilege of being held prisoner at the airport Sheraton Four Points for THREE weeks. Now the've added another full week at home just for extra giggles.I told her she should take acting lessons and me?....I'm gonna start brushing up on my tennis before my next trip down under.

As far as wankers and tall poppies.....I had to look up the latter. The former I hear from my mates a lot when I come visit....usually directed at me and most yanks in general. I always thought being a wanker was a compliment.

Just kidding.....LOVE sharing pints with my Aussie friends.....ALWAYS entertaining.

Have you not watched the movie 'Quo vadis, Aida?'? It's not a bad aide memoire.

I'm not well known as a booster of Scummo.

But I must note that Aus PM Morrison has done the proper thing: talked directly to his counterpart in Serbia and started preparing the way for Serbian acceptance of the next move by the otherwise bumbling Morrison govt.
Um, was a joke, sorry. Yes I recall the 90's.

On the bright side Serbia did give us Tesla.

You’re almost right.
My apologies. My mistake was in quoting the wrong post. I should have cited:

Meanwhile - back on track.

So where are the smart arses who mocked me for laying in a year's supply of bog paper? Answer me that if you can.
Its a pity you can't eat bog paper -
https://www.theage.com.au/national/n...11-p59nef.html

But its all a case of 'no matter me' back here in Ecuador where life is rather good.
Some observations - best place for mask under the nose was Tulla where it is mode de jour for Border Farce wonks.
US ( LA and Miami) was very good but I was disappointed I didn't get to see anyone getting duct taped to their seat.
Pick of the bunch Ecuador. Everyone masked indoors and out even on their motorbikes.
Proof of Vax required to go into the supermercados.
Said to be no Covid here in Salinas/La libertad but people are a bit concerned it may have come down from Guayaquil over Christmas.
We shall see.

Sailing? Yep my boat is OK.

Ping! You have escaped at last! Well done, even if we continue to miss you on the Comedy Net. Will you now be able to return to Chile?

What has tennis to do with sailing? Pretty much everything - if you go sailing its a given that you play tennis and if you play tennis it follows that you go sailing.
Pretty clear to me.

Hello Jim,
Not quite that easy. This is just an inspection/aduana visit, 2 weeks.
Left Melb last Friday, arrived here Saturday afternoon local time having been constantly masked even while sleeping for 36 hours. I have almost recovered. I should write a paper on the therapuetic(sp) benefits of rum.
New Zealand crew is stuck in NZ, Chilean crew leaves Puerto Williams bound Rio on a French boat in a few days. If things go well with Aduana I hope to get a 6 month extension to allow time to make plans.
After 2 years 2 months on the hard no mould down below, no green slime on deck. Almost all electrics tested and OK. Batteries in good order having been on solar the whole time.
So life is feeling quite good.

Man, that's complicated and likely pretty frustrating... hoping it goes as you wish.

But meanwhile, how did you apply the rum whilst masked? IV? Enema? Enquiring minds want to know!

Best of luck, and give the boat a pat from us.

* tests reported to the state govt and federal govt have other benefits, not dissimilar to the data collected by ABS in their regular census and sample census surveys. Plus of course much more.

NSW residents must now report positive rapid COVID-19 test results through the Service NSW app.

From next week they’ll risk a $1000 fine if they don’t report the result. NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet says people must record results as far back as New Year’s Day.

Experts have warned only recording positive test results would prevent authorities from understanding how widespread coronavirus is in the community.

Rum administered orally post trauma.
Ignoring the Qantas experience which was just plain weird - in LA the only place near the dep gate for food was a crowded restaurant full of an unmasked horde. Passed on that. Once in the hands of American - 5 hour flight to Miami single cup of coffee. No time to blink in Miami - next international leg to Guayaquil another 5 hours - single cup coffee. So about 15 hours on two cups coffee.
I hate to think what the country's budget airlines are like.
