Which is why many (but apparently not all) of us are happy to have seperate state governments. It gives us greater (local) control of the waterways we sail in.

And as for national concerns of the Aussie cruising sailor, all the states get an equal number of elected senators to look after their state's concerns - of course the process has been keel hauled by party politics but the intention was good!

Apparently - as explained upthread - we are under the control of The Pentaveret, just same as you guys!

I thought we were, but I’ve been living in a fool’s paradise between Tassie and South Australia.

I’m now in Victoria and I really cannot believe the stuff I am seeing and hearing. I just had a plumber on this job explain to me how Covid is a hoax and how Bill Gates is behind it all and how the Victorian premier in in the pay of some secret organisation.

I cannot wait to get out of this asylum and back to the sane states.

Here you go, fully explained - you read it on CF, it's gotta be gospel.

The existence of the Pentaveret is revealed in the Mike Myers film, "So I Married an Axe Murderer".
The father of Myers' character says: "It is a well-known fact ... that there's a secret society of the five wealthiest people in the world, known as the Pentaveret, who run everything in the world, including the newspapers, and meet tri-annually at a secret country mansion in Colorado, known as The Meadows."
Members of the Pentaveret, he reveals, include the Queen, representatives of the Vatican, the Gettys and the Rothschilds, and, most chillingly, Colonel Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, before he died. "The colonel had sinister "beady little eyes", he says.

Fair go. One plumber speaks for 7 million Victorians?
Look hard enough and I am sure you can find a few dumbos in SA.

For Cadence 'I thought you Aussie were smarter than us in the US and not being so petty over politics.'

No mention of politics on this thread for a while - just interstate rivalry - the others are all jealous of Victoria.

Kind of a simplified litmus test, but he was somewhat reminiscent of the 90% of people at Coburg Bunnings either not wearing a mask or not wearing it properly.

One really needs to be cleanshaven to wear a mask properly. How many have you seen leaking around chinwhiskers, which will, after all grow back? I think we're gonna have to re-boot Earth.

Spot on.

when spraying with pesticides the only way to guarantee the seal on a mask is with a full face helmet. Mostly wearing of masks is a feel good although it will capture and reduce air movement of the virus not prevent it.

Yep. I've lived in both Sydney and Melbourne. The trouble is % of area wise they are a very small % of Australia. They are a different world and breed to the majority of Australia.

Thats 27000 New Zealanders effectively locked out of their own country for yet another six weeks.
If at the end of February she still hasn't managed get some groups - you know who I mean - vaccinated she will just extend it again.

Note well - this is New Zealanders locked out - not furriners who have no show this side of Christmas after next.
Arguably the cleanest air and water in the world. Heaps of green energy, we produce far, far more food than we need (and beer, wine and top shelf) and only a small population of 500k.
Tasmania recorded the second-fastest economic growth in the nation last financial year.

We actually don't need mainland Australia for much..maybe Qlds lovely Tropical fruits and sugar.

We get a huge voter turn out as we have to vote, politics is always talked about and there are not many adults that don't take an interest.
