The Great Toilet Paper Crisis of 2020 or Poo problems Downunder

Australia has had an interesting summer. First off we had the great continent destroying bush fires. Then came the deluges and floods. Then came the corona virus crisis. And, last but not least the great toilet paper virus.

The response to the corona virus in Australia has been to clear all the supermarket shelves of toilet paper. I am worried because I'm down to my last five rolls, winter impends, and I may not be able to voyage north to escape the upcoming cold weather in the southern hemisphere.

What is causing this run on the butt wipes, is there something the media is not telling me, is a well wiped butt positive protection against this latest virus.

The image is the toilet paper shelving at my local supermarket, looks a bit like a certain south American country.

I assume this is a joke, but have you tried a Bidet?
I know, really I do, I’m an old Redneck who thought those things were ridiculous, until I tried one as a way of not having to carry so much on the boat, and now that I have become used to one, I hate it when one isn’t available. You end up much cleaner.
Who ever thought the way to clean something was with dry paper?

A roll of TP last 1 week.

I put the date on the box of Kleenex when I break out a new one, just to see how long it last. 3-4 MONTHS.

Your mileage may vary.
Not storing rolls of TP on a boat is a good thing.

I had no idea that I would get that good a mileage out of a Costco 12 pack of Kleenex. Apparently I bought a 3 of years worth if only I only get 3 months per box. Try storing 3 years worth of rolls.

I do second the bidet idea. Here in this corner of the world, a sprayer next to the toilet is SOP. I put one on my boat when I had a wet sewage system. Not a great idea for desiccating toilets.

I believe it is because a lorry transporting TP caught on fire. BBC video link below.

https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-au...r-catches-fire

Coronavirus in Australia: Lorryload of toilet paper catches fire

A lorry carrying toilet paper had caught fire due to a mechanical fault, amidst Australiaís coronavirus-induced buying frenzy of toilet paper.

Authorities and supermarkets have stressed there is no need to stockpile, but it doesn't seem to be stopping the rush.

To help out, a Northern Territory newspaper known for its humorous headlines has printed an eight-page "toilet paper" pullout section, for those who may have run out.

Nope. This crisis is real. Here's a photo I took on the weekend....

I had to settle for 2 dozen copies of "TV Week" magazine instead. It kind of does the job, just need to watch out for the staples.

Its caused by dumb people.

People in Hong Kong were worried about factories in China, who supply their TP cutting supply due to closure, so they were buying up big.

Mentally challenged dullards in Australia seeing this, and believing our supply also came from China began doing the same.
Dumb sheeple followed.

Normall we would wash, rinse and dry the used TP but in drought affected areas Downunder, this is not possible.

Same goes for the Bidet - completely useless unless you have surplus of water.

At least cruisers can make their own water!

Re: The Great Toilet Paper Crisis of 2020 or Poo problems Downunder

I heard there was a recall notice out because even though we have a toilet paper manufacturer in Australia the cardboard centre rollers are made in China.

The Hong Kong thing is interesting. Years ago there was a baby food scandal in China because the manufacturers there were using melamine to lift the protean count. Concerned parents in China were asking their relatives in Australia to ship them baby formula and the supermarkets had to put restrictions in place to keep any stock on the shelves.

Maybe there will be a new soft centre date roll on the shelves soon...
