ICW bridges

Does anyone know if the ICW bridges in Florida are still functioning? We are heading north, anchoring all the way, traveling outside as much as possible, but we will probably have to travel the ICW sooner or later.

In Florida all bridges are working just fine.

Re: ICW bridges

The only one in question, though not in Fla , is the Army controlled one at Camp Lejune that may have opening issues..

Re: ICW bridges

I’m not sure your question belongs in this new Chinese Virus forum.

However, we also plan to head north out of the Florida Keys next week. Having real information, not buried in opinions and media fired up BS, would be helpful.....

Re: ICW bridges

I thought the virus and associated shutdowns and travel restrictions could affect the bridges. That’s why I put it here.

We passed through the Onslow Creek Swing Bridge, on the south end of Camp LeJeune, yesterday at about 1330, no problems. We also passed through bridges at Wrightsville Beach, and Figure Eight Island yestereday.

Prior to that we couldn't pass through The Little River Swing Bridge... but that's because at the time it was broken. IOW, not virus-related. Fixed on the second day after initial discovery, so back in business now. We bypassed by running from Georgetown to Southport/Cape Fear Inlet, and that meant we also bypassed the Socastee Swing Bridge too; that one also had a temporary maintenance problem (coincidentally discovered at the same time as the Little River problem), but Socastee's was apparently fixed the same day it was discovered.

Re: ICW bridges

Waterway Guide is reporting the Little River Swing Bridge is again closed for maintenance as of the afternoon of the 21st, repairs hopefully by the 23rd.

Re: ICW bridges

We travelled from Marathon to Beaufort over the last couple of weeks, having left before the keys inevitably starts kicking out all the Snowbirds with no exceptions (but that is another discussion)

We experienced no major bridge issues, although we bypassed the Miami section jumping outside from NoName to Lake Worth taking advantage of a rare near-perfecr outside window.

The Causton Bridge at mm 580 has a broken non-opening span which can be a bit sphincter-puckering in higher winds and currents, and the Lady's Island Bridge at mm535 has gone to a once per hour, on the hour schedule -because they can. That's already one of the more surly and uncooperative operators on the whole AICW to begin with.

That's as far as we have gotten, or plan to move for a week or so.
