We'll the UK has one of the most surveilled citizenships in the world.. I don't remember any referendums or consultations to see if the surveillance cameras on every street corner were acceptable.. we just wake up in the morning to discover more have appeared..

Thanks for the link, but this site is very difficult to interpret. My impression is its an attempt at "data-dump" to make its point. I stopped going thru the charts when I counted 16 studies (stopped counting) with statistical "p" values significantly greater than 0.05, which is an accepted benchmark for the study results to be due to cause and effect and not just chance. Definitely could use much more information about all of the numerous studies, preferably published in peer-reviewed journals to enable mass-scrutiny. thanks

I made sure to get the one without any potential for allergic reactions.

I actually did an allergy test of polyethylene glycol and polysorbate-80 over the weekend.

Put pure samples of both on my skin for 24 hours under a band aid. Zero reaction. Then I narrowed down the aromatic amines (of which epoxy hardener, my primary allergen that caused all my health problems, is one) and that left Janssen, which contains pilysorbate-80. So does cheap ice cream. Ha ha.

So based on all that I went with the Janssen/Johnson and Johnson.

Absolutely zero. And I mean ZERO side effects so far, a few hours in. Just like every other vaccine I’ve ever had.

I’m assuming I’ll feel sick later after it starts really working with my immune system but for now, nothing.

wife and I had the rona last may. it was basically a horrible flu for about a week. I got my moderna #1 on tuesday. on Wednesday I felt like I had rona all over again. Better on thursday, I may actually be able to sleep on my left side tonight.

That site is "noisy" and is pushing a conclusion. A sister page claims that HCQ is effective against COVID as well, which kind of dents its credibility.

The few positive papers that I spent any time with were from earlier in the pandemic, and the drugs were used in combination with others. Further, claims that most people on the drug got better in 5 days is kind of specious, since most people get over COVID-19 in 5 days, period.

It's NOISY and disorganized, and hides whatever wheat there is in a pile of chaff. That site's not intended to educate, it's intended to bullsh!t the non-critical reader into accepting it, cos !!! 542 !!! count'em! studies, maan!!. And get a side helping of HCQ while you're here.

But don't feel bad. Many others have been taken in too, even some not normally given to wallowing in conspiracies.

An interesting overview here about the general "anti" covid movements, from the numbers-skeptical to the "big pharma" to the antivaxxers to the flat-out "it's a hoax!" crowd. Don't worry, 5G is still very much in fashion too.

What amazes me is that all these disparate and often contradictory "anti" people still feel they're all on the same side, because they're AGAINST something.

When my pharmacist called me to say a month and a half ago that he had a plentiful supply of Moderna vaccines and was advancing ahead of the category of prioritization so as to be able to use the vaccines, he asked me if I had had allergic reactions to various products that contained polyethylene glycol / PEG / antifreeze.

Afterwards, I got to thinking about the colonoscopy preparation solution question and so when I went in for my appointment a couple of days later, I asked Ken, the pharmacist: "About your question regarding the colonoscopy preparation solution, just how and where do you intend to administer the jab? I usually get my vaccinations in my left arm. Do I have to drop my pants for this vaccine? Is that why you are putting on gloves?" Got a chuckle from him and his staff about that. He replied: "No Dan, I am a pharmacist, not a proctologist."

If getting vaccinated involved the trials and tribulations of a colonoscopy exam, I suspect there would be A LOT more hesitancy about getting vaccinated.

Hope you're feeling better soon. The reaction you had to your first shot is interesting, because that's also the experience that some people have had to their second shot. It's like previous exposure, from either the first shot or from actually having COVID-19, can trigger a stronger response to the vaccine.

Both the wife and I are now vaccinated. Zero noted side effects on the first shot, 3 weeks ago. We just got our second jab a couple of hours back. So far all I feel is a need for a drink, but since it is after 5PM, I do not think that is a vaccine side effect. That is a side effect of being a sailor. Pfizer is the type used on Bonaire right now. We were in the over 60 non-essential group. But as of late last week anyone over 18 can now sign up down here.

Actually, your body's response to the vaccine is a very good indication that your immune system is healthy and very responsive. It's also probably why you were able to recover from your illness in one week.
