Covid Travel Insurance?

With some countries requiring evidence of travel insurance that covers for covid before letting you in does anyone know where you can find such a thing....

Re: Covid Travel Insurance?

Assuming you mean travel insurance which covers cancellation for Covid reasons, virtually all such underwriters cover that now. Our business insurance agent recommended Seven Corners.

If you mean what you said - insurance which covers Covid - that doesn’t exist outside of the health insurance world.

Re: Covid Travel Insurance?

We (as canadians) get travel health insurance for travel to the states and bahamas. The main focus is repatriation coverage for health issues. Covid is included in that.
We have used desjardins and medipac(canadian only I think)
Your best bet is to call any insurance companies you currently use and ask. If they dont cover it, they should have a recomendation

Re: Covid Travel Insurance?

Don't bother buying travel insurance for covid-related issues. You will never collect.

We lost more than $1,000 to Travel Insurance International on a charter we booked long before covid entered the picture. You'd think a pandemic-scuttled trip would be exactly what such insurance covers, right?

You would be wrong.

The Internet consumer forums are filled with complaints about TII, Expedia and other writers of travel insurance. The fine print limits coverage to extremely narrow situations that you likely won't meet.

Even worse, Dream Yacht Charter wanted us to fork over all of our scheduled payment to qualify for a future trip at an unknown date. We just ate the 30 percent down and the wasted premium payment to TII.

Good thing, too. Grenada, where we wanted to sail, still has all kinds of covid restrictions a year after the scheduled trip.

Dream Yacht Charter appears to be in total disarray, with investors/owners cursing everywhere over cancelled payments from DYC and reports of charter boats in bad shape.

Making the full payment would have been good money after bad.

If you are flying in some airlines include it, like Emirates.

Re: Covid Travel Insurance?

If you're planning to use a travel agent for the trip, talk to them first. They seem to be really up on travel insurance. Or, if you carry insurance like homeowners' ins., perhaps they can write you a rider for what you want to do.

Good luck with it, El Pinguino. It's a long time since you've seen your boat!

Re: Covid Travel Insurance?

Don't know about Oz but in the UK almost all travel insurance now covers covid for medical, repatriation and cancellation but the details for cancellation cover varies a lot.
