Re: Covid?
This is a CRUISING forum. If you just want to talk boats, there are lots of other places you should go. The pandemic has been the single most significant factor affecting CRUISING. So yes, it is relevant.

That. ^
PLUS, the mods had the foresight to put pandemic talk in a containment area here, so that COVID-19 doesn't worm its way into every thread.
Given the high transmissibility of SARS CoV-2, it is a truly wise decision.

That, and the forum can be put on 'ignore' by those who don't want to read it.

It looks like covid has become a perfect excuse for people who are terrified to untie their dock-lines. And since this forum is infested with armchair cruisers, it has become a hot topic.

Don't worry about it Tom , I've been reading here for a very long time and it is my strong belief that some people here have some kind of financial incentives to write all that covid crap.
Cheers

Based on the many I know or have met on the water I do believe there's more than a few real cruisers on the forum.
And I can confirm from the situation at the yards in north Florida that there's dozens and dozens of boaters, mostly Canadians, that were forced to leave there boats in storage that have flocked back to launch and head to the islands. I see a steady stream of them in my marina. Most pull out of the storage yard to the work yard, paint the bottom, launch and are on the way in a week or two at most.
Bottom line, I can confirm from personal observation that Covid was a very real impediment to very real cruisers and reporting on the situation and impact on boaters is extremely useful.

In all transparency, my observations at the marina show little correlation between those who fear covid and those who fear windy days. That said, I do see a correlation with those who fear snakes, sharks, fast cars, and firearms. Me, I don’t like spicy food, and I am not going to detail why.

Re: Covid?
@Tetepare and @skipmac you both need to get out of those marinas Mates. Cruisers don't mess about in marinas for any length of time. They're expensive. And as they say; "ships and sailors rot in port." [emoji6]

Tell me. Actually I’m on hiatus, learning about my neighborhood. Going to places nearby I’d always said I’d go see. I know Bangkok better than Buffalo and Sydney better than Orlando. I miss SoPac, and know everyone is hanging out partying to the Gilbetise panpipe band in Munda, but it’s not been bad exploring the back yard.

Well I had two options. Drive the boat to Massachusetts in December to spend the holidays with the family or leave the boat in a marina and fly. Since I just now got the boat back to Florida and it's cold as a well diggers posterior up here I decided to take the later option.
And I need to haul to do some work on the boat and all those Canadians have booked up the travel lift until February. Really, just because they've been trapped in the Great White North for two years with their boats rotting away in a sleazy old boat yard in Florida what's the big hurry? You'd think they would give a local boy a turn.
