Corona and Coastal Cruising Southern FL?

This may be premature, but I am wondering if anyone that is coastal cruising southern FL has anything to report regarding changes due to the panic that has been caused by the corona virus? Just wondering if the mass psychosis will have an negative impact on the ability to cruise and/or enjoy shore visits on either coast or the Keys?

Thanks,

I'm sure there will be some impacts, but if necessary, it shouldn't be too hard to keep human interaction to a minimum while cruising.

Are you currently cruising S. FL? If so, is there anything to report one way or the other?

Unfortuantely, no, nothing to report for your area. I'm sitting in the frozen north working furiously to get the boat ready for launch next month. The boat being on land and Zoie still having to physically go to work for now are the only 2 reasons we haven't hopped on the boat and found a place with a nice view (and internet for work) to wait things out.

Toilet paper and bottled water flying off the shelves. Completely gone in many locations.

Publix was rationing water to one pack per household. Also closing at 8pm every night to clean the store.

Company wide. All Publix locations are closing at 8pm now to clean.

Signs were up that it's one pack of water per household on the water pallettes in the aisles.

Toilet paper completely gone. Water basically gone.

The missing inventory was at a fort Myers Publix.

Thanks for the info. The Publix in Marathon was out of toilet paper yesterday but still had Key lime pies so all was ok.

Re: Corona and Coastal Cruising Southern FL?

You know, there's no actual shortage of toilet paper.

This is just the result of people hoarding it, because they're afraid other people will hoard it.

The supply will remain constant. Relax - it will be restocked. Stop hoarding it.

They don't want to raise the production of it, as they'll have to close down their factories the summer when people stop buying it and start using the stash they have in their living rooms.

When in a house with 3 women and down to 3 rolls =buy a bunch it is not hoarding. It is necessity.

Isn't it weird? The mentality of it is strange to me.

Even if toilet paper ran out, there are plenty of ways to get the job done.

Then I see these people hoarding a couple cases of 12-16oz bottled water. First, you get more for the money with gallons and second, do they think tap water will be shut off due to a person to person virus? I'm lost on that.
