Chesapeake Bay / Covid Situation

We will be heading north from SC to MD and the Chesapeake Bay for cruising in a few weeks. We cancelled this cruise last year because of the pandemic.

In our area, marinas, restaurants and businesses in general seem to be operating normally with the exception that face masks are required indoors.

How is the situation in MD around the Chesapeake Bay? Are the marinas open? Towns operating normally and businesses and restaurants open? I would hate to travel 500 miles and not be able to visit the towns and such.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

The marinas never shutdown here at all. (Norfolk/Virgin Beach)

As a matter of fact, most of my workforce has never missed a day yet.

Re: Chesapeake Bay / Covid Situation

We went all over the Chesapeake last summer and didn’t find a single place that was closed. I don’t know why this summer should be any different.
If we had been vaccinated back then, it could have been the best summer yet since everything was open and there were no crowds.

Re: Chesapeake Bay / Covid Situation

Everything is open, Ron. Restaurants are currently capacity-restricted a bit, especially for indoor seating, but in general that's not a big issue. Masks required for ingress/egress (as with all other shops/stores too), but not while seated.

Seems you've been quiet on here and TF for a while? We saw your boat when we passed through St. Johns for our winter 2019/2020 ICW trip... but I guess you didn't happen to be around at the time...

Cheers, -Chris

I traveled to Annapolis twice in the past month on business (marine industry, boatyards/marinas). Everything seemed to be a full-go up there. Of course masks are mandatory inside and social distancing is requested and expected.

If you’re coming up from SC you may find things a little different up here. We take masking up fairly seriously up here and I have been amazed at the difference in attitude between there and here (and not only with regard to the BBQ- yours definitely superior)
