Thanks for the summary Montanan. My understanding is that the only provinces with a mandatory 14-day quarantine for travelers coming from within Canada is NS and NL. No borders are sealed, but there are getting thicker, with some checkpoints appearing in an attempt to enforce the "travel only when necessary" rules.

I can tell you that Gatineau's checkpoint on the Quebec side of the river have been causing a bit of havoc over on the Ontario side. Traffic has backed up all the way across. And it's terrible at the best of times.

Ask a Norwegian?

And "Get Lost. Don't come to Montana!" is priceless!

On topic (sort of) in Wisconsin they don't seem to have made up their minds yet. I called the DNR (Dept. of Natural Resources) yesterday and he had no information on marinas. Our yacht club is closed - until further notice. The club has not said anything about launching. The club does have one issue that could make it interesting, we have a dozen or so boats stored on a city boat launch parking lot, which are supposed to be gone by May 15th.

I also asked about recreational boating - he said that was not restricted as of this time. I know fisherman have been out, including a nephew who does tournaments. We're also able to fish from shore - as long as we maintain "social distancing".

My apologies to the Newfoundlanders for my misspelling of the island's name. I should pay more attention when reading the guide book.

Watching the Republic of Doyle has helped accustom my ears to the Newfoundland accent.

Re: Canadian boating - Great Lakes and Atlantic region

To the last post. I read somewhere that marinas that offered repair type services were allowed to be open. Then a few days later we could not find that and had been replaced with a total closure in Ontario. Constantly evolving it seems. Not sure about other provincial areas.
A boat looks so forlorn sitting on the hard with work to be done and water so close.

Montanan: Reminds me of decades ago Wi had one that read "Escape to Wisconsin". Almost immediately "Escape From Wisconsin" stickers showed up. Some people 'anagrammed' the originals to read "Eat Wisconsin ape toes".

Wisconsin has real winters. Minnesota also has real winters. And Canada, oh, Geez Louise.

I was always glad to repatriate to Montana on weekends during the winter months, when I was visiting at our company's semiconductor chip manufacturing foundry in Chippewa Falls [the old Cray Supercomputer chip foundry] so as to get back to some place warm for two or three days. We could depart Missoula International Airport early fly to MSP, rent a car, and be at our design office near Minneapolis by their 9:30 AM so as to have full days work. Of course that required awakening at 2:00 AM Montana time. The drive from MSP to Chippewawawawa delayed our start of the day to just before their lunch time but still allowed for a good day's work, if we kept the locals into the evening hours. If we made the business trip just a one dayer, we would return home at 2:00 AM, thus a 24 hour affair, not something we thankfully did very often.

Except these days it's Alberta that's running for the separation door. Seems like there's always some region in this big Confederation family that is pissed off.

What??? No stop at the Lienie's Brewery?

After 6.6 decades of (mostly) living here, I still find winters tolerable. But I think we are pretty mild compared to what you and our neighbors north of the 49th parallel get.

Now that would be a grand tour in the coming months.

Greenland, hey wasn't that the place the POTUS was seeking to purchase from the Danes? Didn't receive a favorable response, so he petulantly cancelled his trip to Copenhagen to meet Her Excellency, Mrs. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

Sounds pretty normal to me. Several years ago (less than a decade) a certain political party in this state (Wisconsin) voted for secession. (They must have slept through US History in high school.)

Re: Canadian boating - Great Lakes and Atlantic region

OK from my studying of the situation. It looks like Lake Ontario and 1000 Islands will flood more than last year. Flooding in Montreal has already started. Last year, I was able to get in the water early and the water rose. This year assuming we will not get in the water until June, the water levels may be too high to launch large boats where I winter store! I think if COVID ever clears up in the next month, the Water levels may hinder us later in June when Highest water is forecast. From my vantage point, (looking at Milton Island) the water is rising however if we get a dry spring it might relax the flooding somewhat.

To the person who asked what was Nunavut. Nunavut is a part of the North West Territories in Canada. Nunavik is actually the northern part of Quebec.
